Freight Brokers International

Started work for a company called Freight Brokers International this month. An interesting company that sells van’s for backloads (express freight) mainly within the EU. My role is to promote the business and attract new custom, ensure all operations areĀ carried out efficiently and of course take the sales and process them.

It’s only part-time (10 hours) work for myself at the moment and now on my second week of employment with them, but I’m enjoying it very much considering I have never worked within this industry before but can utilise my skills well in to the role I have.

Freight Brokers International

I’ve started…

I've started...Today I’ve made a good start on the design of this website, you will not be able to see it yet though, as it’s hidden away from you at the moment until it’s ready. At least the ball is rolling now and I am getting things done.

I have been out most of the day so I will continue working on the site tomorrow. I don’t have an ETA at the moment and maybe I should not even have this kind of personal blog open? Well it is so it will stay open until the time is right, when it is I shall port these posts and comments (if any) over to the new site.

Yesterday I also helped a friend start their own website. They had purchased a domain and hosting last year but knew nothing about getting a website started so I uploaded a well-known CMS package for them WordPress, same as I’m using here and showed him the basics, changing the theme, adding basic content and how to administer WP. If he ever finish’s his site I may link you to it. All I can tell you is that he’s trying a make a site that gamers read comments can review latest title games (I don’t think it will be as good as IGN etc), but maybe it will be more personal with a smaller community?

A little off topic but, I plugged in my iPad 2 today, update for 4.3.2! Should I? Just thinking would a jailbreak be out only for the 4.3.1 same as the iPhone/iPod?

Designing the right theme

Wordpress ThemesI continue again today with deciding how I would like this website to look and feel but with-out a real purpose I’m finding it difficult to design. I’m going to have to think more about what I’m going to do first, then work around my ideas to create the ideal design.

I know I would like to include CSS3 and HTML5 into this site and also use some of the wonderful plug-ins that WordPress offers.

Last night I came across a number of WordPress themes that include support for iPad, so I will adding adding that feature later today for sure!

And I plod on…

Update: I have just added some basic iPad support which allows visitors to swipe across different posts. It’s only small feature for iPad but I’m will be expanding this later.

Going to take sometime!

1000 ideasWell I have been busy tonight researching what venture I will take this website on and have come across some really cool ideas. What I have started doing is I have created a secret sub-doamin where I’m working on my project for this website on once all is complete I will port it over to the public facing site (this one).

What I will be doing is using some really cool effects using CSS3 and HTML5 for those with the latest web browsers and also support for mobile devices such as iPhone’s. I have already added support for iPhone, if you got one try it out and let me know what you think.

Well must continue researching and working hard coding my new ideas, will keep you all posted. P.s. this will take sometime to complete!

A fresh start

Philip Smith

Hello and welcome to my new personal website www.p-smith.co.uk. My name’s Philip Smith, I’m 27 years old, enjoy web design and following news about latest developments with new technology. I have a wife and a one year old daughter and live in Norfolk UK.

Since the age of 15 I have owned a website, some good, some not so good. My last website www.htmlblock.co.uk I recently decided to close down due to the lack of free time I had to maintain it and running costs. The website was live for over 5 years which saw an average of over 1 million hits per month and offered users to browse the Internet anonymously. The website was shut down mid March 2011 and on the 12th April 2011 this website was born.

My intentions for this website are mixed at the moment, though I have some idea’s what I’m going to do. My first thought’s would be to share some interesting things I do in my personal life, share new and exciting technology innovations I come across and also to provide some web based service’s which require small fee’s to help me fund my website. I would be very grateful hearing from my visitors with feedback and ideas which can be left in the comments on this post.

I hope you will find my website both helpful and interesting and will bookmark to visit again soon.

Philip Smith.
